This extension summarizes the web page you are looking at. This page explains exactly what happens to that page's text, what we keep, and what we do not.
The short version. We have no accounts and ask for no personal details. Nothing is read until you click the extension icon. When you do, the text of that one page is sent to us to produce your summary, and it is not stored afterwards. We do not track which sites you visit, and we do not read pages in the background.
Only when you click the extension icon and press Summarize. Chrome grants the extension access to the current tab at that moment, and to that tab only. The extension requests no standing access to any website: it has no permission to visit, watch or read pages on its own, and it cannot see a page you have not asked it to summarize.
The extension extracts the readable text of the page — the article or document body, its headings and lists. Navigation, menus, ads, cookie banners and comment threads are stripped out before anything is sent. Together with that text we receive the page title and address, so the summary can be labelled and linked back to its source.
That text is forwarded to our language model provider, OpenAI, which generates the summary and returns it. We hold the text only for the seconds it takes to answer your request. It is not written to a database, not logged, and not kept afterwards. Images, video, audio and files on the page are not sent at all.
If you are signed in to a site, the extension sees the page as you see it. It receives no cookies, passwords or session tokens, and it cannot sign in anywhere or act on your behalf.
All of this lives in your browser's local storage. We cannot read it.
To see whether the service works and where it is used, we keep an anonymous log of events: the date and time, how long the answer took, how large the page was, the two-letter country code derived from the network address, and the browser language. The network address itself is used only for the rate limit and is never written to this log. The addresses of the pages you summarize are not logged, and neither is their content. We also record when the welcome and uninstall pages are opened. None of this identifies you.
If you rate the extension or answer the question on the uninstall page, we receive your rating, the reason you picked, and any text you chose to write. We do not receive your name, email, or IP address, and there is nothing in a feedback entry that identifies you.
The extracted text is processed by OpenAI purely to generate your summary. We use no other third-party service, and no analytics provider.
The extension is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from them.
